Gary :

Hi and thank you for using Just Answer

Customer:

Hi, just come back from holiday and the dishwasher didn't run while we away what do the error codes mean?

Gary :

I'm looking it up now ...

Gary :

Can you verify the model number please

Customer:

MDW710, sorry

Gary :

thanks

Gary :

The code that you are showing ... F8 and E1 are you sure it's not E2 by chance?

Customer:

Hi it's definitely E1 and F8 flashing alternately

Gary :

F8 shows you have a problem with the water level ... this could be a float issue

Gary :

Is your unit built in or prtable?

Gary :

portable

Customer:

It's free standing definitely not an integrated one.

Gary :

Ok, thanks ... Is your machine empty by chance?

Customer:

No, it's completely full.

Gary :

Well, you will need to empty it to get to the problem ... I'm sorry.

Customer:

That's okay, we'll take the trays out, then what will we need to do?

Gary :

Sometimes with these dishwashers, when they sit and not being used the float tends to stick. I'm guessing this is what happened in your case

Customer:

Okay it's empty, where will I find the float?

Gary :

What I would like for you to do after its empty, is tilt the machine a 45 degree angle. Make sure you have a couple of towls in front of it to catch any water that may come out.

Gary :

We're going to start simple first ...

Customer:

Okay machine tipped, something clicked but no water came out.

Gary :

Ok, good ... that's a good sign. Now on the bottom of the machine (inside) I need to to check the pump/drain and make sure it is clear

Customer:

If that's the bit under the filter then it just has some rather unpleasant water in it.

Gary :

I can imagine ... Well with all do respect, you will need to remove the filter and clean it out.

Customer:

Yes done that.

Gary :

Great ...

Gary :

Now, this should take care of the F8 problem ... E1 refers to water interruption ...

Gary :

Is your machine unpluged by chance?

Customer:

No machine is plugged in, we have checked the water supply and that is on.

Gary :

Ok, I need you to switch the machine off, unplug it to clear the memory and turn the water off and release the water pressure in the intake line. Please let me know when this is done

Customer:

done

Gary :

Great ... Do you have the attachment to the water fauset still attached or not?

Customer:

yes

Gary :

I need you to remove that ... inside there is a rubber "O" ring/washer ... take a look and make sure it hadn't come dislodge

Gary :

also turn it upside down and make sure there isn't anything in there

Customer:

washer in place properly

Gary :

So far so good ... now please reattach it turn the water on,

Gary :

after you done that, go ahead and plug the machine in, reset the cycle

Gary :

please don't load it yet

Customer:

ok with filter in and start it?

Gary :

yes, empty just in case something didn't come out right ..

Customer:

same error i am afraid

Gary :

Did you clear the cycle before you restarted it?

Customer:

Yes, cleared the cycle, we are going through the process again, unplug, take hose off, reclean filter, switch on a cancel the cycle, have I missed anything?

Gary :

No, not yet ... when you turned the machine on, can you hear it filling?

Customer:

Yes we can hear the water supply reenter the hose.

Gary :

On an off chance, are you rural or city residence?

Customer:

Quite rural, okay that hasn't worked, still have the same error messages.

Gary :

Ok, please bear with me, do you pull water from a tank or well?

Customer:

No we are mains supply.

Gary :

hhhmmm ... ok, you said that you can hear water refilling the hose when you reattached it and turned it on ... when you turn the machine on, can you hear that filling? Again please bear with me

Customer:

No it doesn't appear to be filing.

Gary :

I was afraid of that ... So how handy are you? The simple things are done, so we need to take this to the next level ... which means we need to follow the water flow.

Gary :

First, we need to make sure the hose isn't kinked anywhere ... if there is one, it would be under your machine ... so still attached can you pull it away from the counter some so as you could tilt it back towards the sink and get a look under it to make sure the hose isn't kinked?

Customer:

We are handy, but I think we have gone as far as we need. Thank you for your time, I'll call an engineer to look at it. Or as it's from Costco I can take it back and get a new one :-)

Gary :

Good enough ... sorry about your misfortune on this machine. I wish you the best. If you can kindly rate my service that would be great. Thanks again, and if you need anything else, please let me know.

Customer:

Thanks Gary, enjoy your evening.

Gary :

Will do
