Hotpoint Futura WMFL 833G It starts to fill up then stops,then

Resolved Question:

Hotpoint Futura WMFL 833G
It starts to fill up then stops,then fills again to normal level but then nothing except a few clicks. Does not start to wash or spin.
It goes through the complete cycle but the motor does not turn and the water does not heat up.
At the end of the cycle all the lights on the control panel are left flashing.
I've checked all filters and pump, level switch and inlet water solenoid coils. All plugs are secure in control unit.
Any ideas please

about 18 months

have you also tried to clean the pressure switch ?

Customer:

I've blown the tube through from the switch end

ok and are you sure all the lights are flashing ?

KevinWhiteJA :

and does the control look absolutely fine ?

Customer:

sorry Kevin, not all lights are flashing only the ones beside each button and the pause/start button.

Customer:

the control box looks ok, not wet or damaged.

KevinWhiteJA :

ok...there are 5 lights number them 1 at the top and let me know which ones are flashing

Customer:

None of the six vertical lights were flashing only the 5 horizontal lights.

KevinWhiteJA :

OK, this normally indicates the problem with the control

KevinWhiteJA :

can you test the heating element for continuity

KevinWhiteJA :

with the washer that old I do not think the motor can go bad so early

32 ohms.

element ?

KevinWhiteJA :

If element tests 32 ohms then it is fine

KevinWhiteJA :

the problem is with the control board...as you have already checked the connections to the control

Customer:

sounds expensive

KevinWhiteJA :

yes a new control will cost around £90 and a new motor will cost £110

Customer:

is it worth testing the motor for continuity?

yes you can test it...also check its brushes
