Hi My zanussi fridge freezer zx97/5 has stopped working.

Resolved Question:

Hi
My zanussi fridge freezer zx97/5 has stopped working. I noticed the fridge light went out on Wednesday light but everything else seemed to be working so I thought it was the bulb. Was in hospital for two nights and came home today to find the fridge was warm and the freezer has mostly defrosted. The bottom drawer of freezer is still frozen but all the rest is defrosted. Is this the end of the road for it or do you think its fixable. No lights in fridge indicating anything is working.

Any help much appreciated
Sandra

Hiya,
At the bottom rear of the machine is the compressor, a black pot shaped item.
Is it running?
If it is, is it very hot?

Thanks

Hiya,
OK, thanks for that.

The most likely cause of the problem is a failure of the main control board in the facia panel.
It has a retail price in excess of £140 for the board.

As long as there is no underlying cause, this would get it going again.

The service information suggests a machine between 10 and 12 years old.
If this is correct, I'd have to suggest using the potential repair costs against a new appliance.
If you repair yourself, you have no warranty.
If you get an engineer in, you push the price up higher and have a limited warranty on the part.

Think it over, get back to me if you need more help.

Hope this helps
Thanks
