Hi

Ok thanks for that.

Can you hear the compressor running still at the back?

Also if you remove the baskets in the bottom half of the freezer look on the back wall in there and do you see any ice or frost on the back panel?

Regards

Hi, the compressor is working. There is no ice on the back panel. the ice container is low and what is there is not as frozen

as you would expect.

Expert:  Daniel replied 3 years ago.
Hi

Ok what you need to do is remove the baskets in the freezer and from there remove the back panel in the bottom half of the freezer.

Behind this is the evaporator. Check to see if this is all blocked with ice. If so then you need to use a hairdryer and melt all the ice on there as if theres a build up what it does is stops the air flow and the temperture starts to rise and you get the warning from it.

So check that and see what you find.

If its not blocked with ice see if theres an even layer or frost all over the evaporator and let me know.

Hi the evaporator was iced up slightly and i have used hair dryer as as you suggested. There was an even lair of ice.

Hi

Ok if it was just an even layer then thats normal.

Im taking it its still flashing the high temp light?

If so then pull the appliance out and remove the cover on the back at the bottom. There you will see the compressor.

Feel this and see if its hot to touch.

Hi, the -24 indicator is flashing and red temp icon is still in view. Have removed rear panel and the compressor is hot to the touch.

Ok do you see a fan motor to the side of the compressor?
If so is it running? It will only run when the compressor is running.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Hi, yes the fan is running.

Hi

Ok in this case im afraid its lookin like a sysem fault. Either a poor pumping compressor or a blockage in the system. For either of these you need to get a fridge engineer in as this isnt a diy fix im afraid.

To be honest its more then likely the compressor as they can fail on these maytags.

Sorry its not good news but from the checks we have done its starting to point to the compressor system sorry.

Hi, just my luck ! Just a final question, if the freezer door was not shut properly would this cause any problem to the compressor system ?

Thank you.

Hi

No it wont cause any fault on the compressor. What it will cause is a big ice build up on the evapoarator inside the freezer and loads of frost all over the freezer baskets.
