Indesit FIU20 Mk2 tripping RCD. Both top/bottom ovens and grill

Customer Question

Indesit FIU20 Mk2 tripping RCD. Both top/bottom ovens and grill heating, however when using either for any length of time at some point the RCD will trip. Last time i used the grill, it tripped after being turned off and only the cooling fan still running. Not sure what to do, any assistance appreciated.

Hi

When you get a fault like this were its tripping the RCD its usually one of the heater elements.

But as this is a double oven then theres a few elements in there. What you need is a decent multi meter or a insulation tester to check the elements to earth.

Pull the oven out and with you meter check each element to earth. As if any is then thats the fault and will need to be replace.

But sometimes you need to run the oven so it gets hot then test it. So its a bit of a job but you need to have the oven pulled out onto a bench or the floor and have the back removed.

Then very carefully you need to run the oven and when it trips the RCD out test the heaters and see which is down to earth.
Check the grill and the fan element as these are the common elements to fail and cause this fault.

So check them out and see what you find. If you need anymore info just get back to me.
