Resolved Question:

hi,
i have a Baxi Potterton gold combi 28HE and the error message E119 was coming up. I've re-pressurised the unit, turned it off and reset as per the instructions (on youtube!) but now error message E133 has appeared. Ive tried turning the boiler off and resetting again but the error keeps coming back :-s help!

Plumberpro :

Hob. Give me minute please to look upnthgew manual .

Plumberpro :

Hi . what is your pressure at?

Customer:

its below 2

Customer:

sorry should have said hi first!

Plumberpro :

That's ok . e133 is a flame failure error code.this is usually due to a faulty flame detection probe. Does it make any attempt to start up , is fan running / humming ? , sparking?

Customer:

it attempts to start, clicks on and hums, but then nothing happens and the error message appears. There's 3 lights around one of the dials and only the heating light is on, the water and gas are off4

Customer:

no sparking is happening either

Plumberpro :

Ok . if theres no sparking then it will be a fan or air pressure switch fault. The fan an be tested with a multi Meter on ohms and the air pressure switch too .these are the next in line to operate sparking.

Plumberpro :

Do you have a mutimeter

Plumberpro :

Sorry Becky but there is no easy fix here

Customer:

i dont know what one of those is so i dont think so, is it part of the boiler or something else completely?

Customer:

oh dear!

Plumberpro :

Its an electrical tester

Plumberpro :

It tezst voltage

Customer:

then i definitely dont have one of those!

Plumberpro :

Ohčś× you may have to get someone in

Customer:

would you have any idea how much that would usually cost ie an average call out fee and the work that needs doing an approximate price?

Plumberpro :

If its the fan thats around 110 plus 70 labour. Or British gas do this thing where they come out and diagnose the fault and give you a quote on the repair ( if it seems too much just say no)

Plumberpro :

But get a recommendatiob from family ,friends , neighbours of someone they trust , can rely on and have used a few times , you are lkess likely to get ripped off .

Customer:

ok thanks, ***** ***** very helpful. Thanks Toby

Plumberpro :

Your welcome Becky
