I have a Glow-worm Ultracom CXI boiler fitted in 2008. The

Resolved Question:

I have a Glow-worm Ultracom CXI boiler fitted in 2008. The boiler cuts out at 1.8 bar, showing an F9 trouble condition. After a quick top-up of 0.1 the boiler re-starts. The pressure cut out should be 0.5 bar, but the boiler won't fire -up. What is the problem??

Hi . pressure is usually 1 bar . can you take it to 1.5 bar please to see if they pressure switch kicks in . this is ok and won't damage your boiler, thanks

Customer:

Like I said in the question. The boiler won't start below 1.8 bar. It should be ok down to 0.5 bar. 1.5 bar is too low. Can the pressure sensor be replaced easily.

Plumberpro :

Yes its easy to replace. It just needs a clip removing and it will pull out.

Customer:

Is this worth a try? Can it be cleaned, replaced, or could it be another issue?

Plumberpro :

When above 1.8 bar does the boiler run normally?

Customer:

Yes, it's fine at 1.8 bar, but when it falls below that pressure it cuts out, which can be a pain first thing in the morning and I don't want to put the pressure too high.

Plumberpro :

If it works above that then the boiler is ok apart from the water pressure switch

Customer:

Ok. Can I remove the switch by turning off the boiler and isolating the water inlet and outlet values?

Plumberpro :

Yes , I think there is a drain off on thge heating return once isolated . this will drop the pressure.

Customer:

Ok. Thanks. I'll have a look tomorrow.

Plumberpro :

Ok. Just checked and the boiler needs to be at 1 bar.

Customer:

Ok. I hope it's the pressure sensor. Unless, you know of any other fault that these boilers have with pressure cut outs.

Plumberpro :

Its got to be . I would have said check the pump, but that must run ok as it runs over 1.8 bar ,

Customer:

I'll let you know.....
