SOS , I have just bought an expensive new Miele power wash

Resolved Question:

SOS , I have just bought an expensive new Miele power wash W1 washing machine and overnight the language has turned from English to Chinese.... I cannot figure out how to change it back, as all symbol and text now in Chinese . Not great for a new machine and makes me fear it was made in China and not in Europe ....

Customer: Hi George.
George-Allsorts :

Good morning

Customer: it is Miele W1, mod: WMF120
George-Allsorts :

Thanks... one moment whilst I find that model please

Customer: Ps. You will have to give me " blind" advice please, as I cannot (eg) choose "programme manager and then "go to change language" as all the text coming up in the window is in Chinese . You will unfortunately have to tell me (eg) : choose programme manager, then click 3 times, then .....
George-Allsorts :

Ok I am just looking for that information for you...

George-Allsorts :

Changing the language - is possible at any time via the menu
"Settings".
The language will be displayed
Touch the UP/DOWN sensor either side of OK until the desired language appears on the display.
Confirm by touching OK.

Customer: I cannot even find settings
Customer: All I have in English are the buttons on the machine
George-Allsorts :

One moment

Customer: Wish could send you photo of flipping Chinese symbols.....
George-Allsorts :

What are the titles of the buttons you have? Especially those at the screen

Customer: on the "screen" only Chinese
George-Allsorts :

under the screen there should be two arrows, yes?

Customer: the buttons, are the usual ones: cottons. Further programmes. Programme manager
Customer: yes, there are arrows.
Customer: and an OK
Customer: rest is Chinese
George-Allsorts :

Arrow down OK Arrow up

Is that correct?

Customer: yep
George-Allsorts :

press the two arrows at the same time

George-Allsorts :

The language will be displayed
Touch the UP/DOWN sensor either side of OK until the desired language appears on the display.
Confirm by touching OK.

Customer: glub, Chinese went quite mad over that. Flicked crazily on and on and on
George-Allsorts :

ok.. got ya... now I understand the issue... even the titles of the languages are in chinese

George-Allsorts :

ok now?

Customer: Yes, am feeling invaded here
George-Allsorts :

is it still all in chinese?

Customer: Everything. Well, not the time of the wash and the degrees
George-Allsorts :

Customer: I see a large "i" with Chinese letters after it
Customer: I can programme a normal wash - but fx this morning
Customer: when the damned thing didn't sling it enough, I couldn't find the extra sling programme as that has to be chosen with the arrows and not just the round button
