I have a 16 year old aga that has just had it's temperature

Resolved Question:

I have a 16 year old aga that has just had it's temperature gauge replaced as it blew when temperature could not be regulated. This new gauge does not have a line for me to know what temp to keep it at. It has a big black block then small black blocks to show it going up in heat then a gap then a big red block. Do I aim for the gap between red or black? The man who serviced it said to aim half way up the black blocks but it's currently set on about half and is still 3/4 of the way up the black block sections. Is there still a problem with the aga?

Hi it doesnt sound like the boiler is at fault

Michael :

more than likely the setting on the thermostat(gauge)

Is it a programmable Gauge? and may I have the full make and model # ***** the gauge?

Customer: It's the gauge on the front of the aga but seems to be a slightly different version from the standard one which is why I don't know what section of it would be classed as normal working temp. It's a 2 door oil fired aga run in kerosene only. It's also had new electric box fitted and new stat (with numbers 1-6 on it to turn it up and down but I'm only on about half )
Customer: i don't think there's any make on it be a use they're just standard aga items (I think!!)

Thank you, ***** ***** is supposed to be set as you say between the red and black. But if it isnt responding, You need to have the tech come back as that one sounds to me to be faulty for sure

it should actually turn the unit off and on

Michael :

there are relays inside and one of them if seems is bad

Michael :

Sometimes we all get a faulty part or device right out of the box;-(

Michael :

in addition, they shouldnt charge you for the return trip as the part they installed is bad.

Customer: Think I've got it set too low as he said to keep it only half way up the black blocks so what you say makes more sense!! Thank you! I think it probably all works ok but I'll keep an eye on it - I fully appreciate faulty parts can be delivered
