Hello My name is Ian ~ I am not on the site constantly so please be patient whilst waiting for responses to you queries
OK let me ask you a quick question or two before we get started, would you kindly give me the ENr from the label inside the door, secondly does it actually trip the electric when you plug it in or do you have to select a program first?
when I select a program WAE2416GB/30
OK are you happy working around electrics?
OK I need you to take the top off the washing machine, you may need a 20 torx screwdrive for this
Can you see where the main electric cable comes in the back it connects into a suppressor assy can you have a look at this and tell me if you can see any melting or burn marks around it?
no melting on any of the electrics
OK with the power off disconnect the motor at the plug in connector on its side and then see if you can set the program without tripping the electrics?
not sure what u want me to disconnect
OK if you tilt the appliance backwards you will see the motor at the bottom rear of the washing machine, if you look at the side there is a plug that can be pulled out that connects up to a socket on the motor
Did it trip the electric when you tried to set a program and start it up?
have not tried yet do you want to try now
did not trip the switch
OK it looks like you have a problem with the motor, can you set up the program rinse and see if the appliance fills up with water and then after a while pumps it out, this will then confirm that the fill valves and the drain pump are working OK ~ motor still disconnected please
filling & draining fine
OK how handy are you with tools?
depends what u want me to do
OK you need to take the motor off and have a look at the motor brushes to see if they have worn down to the copper braid ~ if you get the motor off I will tell you what to look for if you don't know what they are
thank you for your help working in too tight a space will have to get someone in happy Xmas
