Hello, my name is***** be patient whilst awaiting any responses as I'm not constantly available.

Hi martin.. there are two elements for your oven... Are you near the oven and is the back off at the moment?

George-Allsorts :

When you are ready, let me know

Customer:

not at the moment. can you please give me 20 minutes.

George-Allsorts :

Yes certainly... can you also get a multimeter?

Customer:

i have pulled the back cover inside the oven off. i have no multimeter sorry.

George-Allsorts :

OK.. you have the power off YES?

Customer:

yes i have disconected from the mains.

George-Allsorts :

OK.. Towards the top you can see what is commonly known as the grill element yes?

Customer:

ok yes.

George-Allsorts :

That is also part of the heating system for the oven..

Customer:

ok

George-Allsorts :

Now go to the very bottom of the oven, you can see a flat plate facing you with two screws in it yes?

George-Allsorts :

There are two wires at the center of it

George-Allsorts :

it may be tucked under the edge of the oven cavity

George-Allsorts :

can you see it?

Customer:

ok i' ve seen them

George-Allsorts :

Those are the two elements for the oven on your system... The one that is commonly the problem is the one at the base.. I've replaced 50 or more of them in the last year

Customer:

thank you.all i do now is unscrew the 2 scews that are holdind the element in?

George-Allsorts :

Personally I would test the two elements with a multimeter before removing either of them.. but, to remove that one you undo the two screws, then you need to lift the element over the retaining tabs on the plate that it is sat on

Customer:

ok, i'm going to get it out

Customer:

i have pulled out the element. it has cracked thank you so much for your help and time
