Hello My name is Ian ~ I am not on the site constantly so please be patient whilst waiting for responses to you queries
Can you hear the motor running at the back at all?
there was a very faint noise, but not main compressor
Hi Ian, I have checked the appliance again, and the compressor has started running, and theelement on the rear of the appliance is warm.
I am puzzled to why it had stopped. the food in the freezer was 100% thawed so it must have stopped yesterday.
As I mentioned, I live alone so no one else could have interfered with the normal operation of the appliance, also I am an engineer, so I am aware of the common sense requirements for normal operation of the machine.
OK fully understand You points however could I set you a scenario and then see if it fits your situation?
Yes pls, I would like to know what may have caused the issue.
OK forgetting the way that the system is controlled ie thermostats etc there is another thermal cut out built into the compressor electrics that shuts the unit down in the event of the appliance compressor overheating. With the modern range of refrigeration systems using Refrigerant R600a (check your rating plate) there is a possibility that if they lose gas or are undercharged that the compressor gets hot (the refrigerant is used to both cool the food but also cool the compressor) and the cut out activates. Unlike the thermostat this causes the compressor to shut down for hours rather than minutes ~ could this have caused your problem?
Hi Ian, thanks for your answer. this sounds like it could be a likely cause.
