my indesit fridge freezer is developing ice at the back of the fridge.I want to know if this is something that can be fixed and if it means that the fridge is not keeping food at the correct temperature.
Hi, my name is ***** ***** I have been in the home improvement and repair field for 20 years. I will be very glad to help you today. Often this is a very easy repair. The condensate drain is likely blocked and the evaporator is freezing over and not able to melt all of the ice because of the excess condensation. To solve this clear the condensate drain at the bottom of the fridge and melt the ice with a hair dryer and clear the condensate drain by taking a turkey baster full of hot water and squirt it into the condensate drain at the bottom of the fridge. Remove the panel on the back bottom of the fridge to access the drain pan and be sure it is not overflowing when squirting a little hot water in the drain. If the problem returns then the fridge and freezer will need a full defrosting. That means that you would have to empty the fridge and freezer and leave it unplugged with the doors open for at least 24 hours then clean the inside thoroughly. Check the door seals to be sure they are intact also.
I found a document that may illustrate what i have described a little better also. HERE
All I received from you was the document. I cleared the tray of the water and fully defrosted the fridge but unfortunately it is icing up again.
