good morning are you there?
is there any heavy frost on the rear wall inside your freezer?
No. I have done full de-frosts but no real frost problems. I have previously monitored the temperature in the freezer (around the middle) and it can swing quite rapidly (sometimes -18 to -10 in an hour).
thank you how old is your fridge/freezer?
Approx 7 years
This could definetley cause the ice maker issue you have.
this may be in need of a coil cleaning if there is a lot of dust under the fridge
it could also be a problem with the defrost components
the first thing to do is use a special coil brush to clean the coils
they are available at most hardware stores
The temperature cycles are strange because if I just turned the fridge off it would take hours temperature to drop. Its as though it is being rapidly heated (defrosted) and then goes back to freeze.
the coils could cause this if they are very dirty, but if the temp is swinging wildly like that I would have to blame the main control board
it has relays and it sounds as if the contacts are failing in one of them
that would cause this to happen so rapidly and its about the only thing that would cause this intermittent issue
I will try the coils first. Are the boards avilable to buy if this fails.?
yes they are available I will let you know where to get that and it is super easy to replace I will assit you if we need to go that route;-)
