Hi , is there an overheat cutout on the boiler?
there is but i have checked it it is ok and there is a live on the control box
you seem to be going off line all the time
Someone I answered last night came back on . I am just going to download the manual for your boiler ,please give me a few mins , thanks
Do you have a multimeter?
if you have power to the burner there are only a few components to test. The high limit statstat, the manual reset overheat stat and the main control stat.
You would need to test these by testing for continuity through them .easy with a multimeter switched to ohms
the live and neutral are fine coming to the burner and the connections to the burner
yes , but they power is routed through those components that create a safe circuit for the boiler to run
the live and netural are fine coing live into the burner
If you look at the wiring diagram once the power goes to the burner it then routes through the safety controls
is there any componat on the burner itself such as a fuse or reset button that may have switched off
Yes , there is a reset button on the burner
Should be under a clear plastic cover
is there any other one other than thaqt
are u talking about the reset button on the control box
No ,its possible it could be a fault with the burner control box or the burner transformer
we got a new burner box is there any way of testing the burner transformer
You could check the amount of voltage that's coming from the transformer to control box
You definitely need to check the stats
on the control box should there be live and netural connection going into the control box the same as an oil control box
You can get a multimeter for ten pounds
I'm pretty sure the power goes from there to the stats, which control if the boiler fires or not
i have one though not with me although i am not convinced that's the problem i will check again is it possibel for you to stand by.
I have to go out soon , but if we are doing it now that's fine
ok thanks very much i wont be long
the live is coming through the stats to the burner and am now going to test wi mulitmeter it wioll take me 20 mintues. is there four conncetions going into the transformer
It depends what burner model you have . is there a model number on it?
Should just be one cable
Its the box that sits under the control box usually
Hi , do you have power coming from the control box to the fan?
model no 40gs5 375526
this is oliver house owner mick has gone out tyo test with mulitmeter
Ok ,check if you have power from the control box to the fan
sorry to hold you there is no power goingto the fan
Are you sure the control unit is ok
its a new one
Ok . I'm sorry but I am stuck myself. If all the stats are ok . the control unit is new , then I'm not sure what else. The only thing I can think is the control unit is a lemon.
Hi . I will opt out to see if another expert has any other ideas. All the best
on the live connetion going into the control box is showing 230 volts
on the live connection going into the control box there is 230 volts
That's ok , that's what it should be. I wonder if its worth taking the control unit back
sorry i only seen your answer about a lemon now
Hi , so sorry have to go out for a couple of hours
ok thanks for yopur help i will give a postitive rating maybe get bck to you later
Yourcwelcomne , all the best
i nver found the problem had differnt experts look at it had to put in a new bolier
