Hi there.. Thanks for getting me the model number...On this particular model it could be one of a few things... Have you got a screwdriver handy, and more to the point, are you able to use it?
yes and yes
OK.. first and foremost unplug the appliance
hello. appliance unplugged and screwdriver in capable hand
Unscrew the two screws from the rear of the lid and remove it
Put fingers on the rear of the drum and pull upwards to see if there is movement
If so how much
drive belt has broken
Ok.. still try it
yes 1\2 cm
OK.. go to the rear of the appliance... remove the plastic half moon shaped panel
What can you see
brass flange and a split pin
Square or teardrop shaped brass
is the teardrop damaged
good... OK.. put the plastic back for the moment so you don't get confused
ok, not that easy but done
Next.. move the TD near to a flat surface like a door or a wall
or a cupboard
now, lean the left side of the appliance against the flat surface at a 60deg angle
look underneath and near to the front of the appliance for a screw
if there is one.. undo it
cant see one but water coming out
Don't worry about the water... take out the tray if it is full
OK.. Stand the appliance back on its feet
Undo: The single screw at the top front of the side and all the screws up the rear edge of the side
sorry.. just the right side
sorry , computer crashed . right side undone
OK.. remove the side panel by sliding it to the rear and lifting up
Look down by the motor and towards the front... can you see the black wheel?
does it rotate with no obstruction and no damage?
good... Can you now try to rotate the drum by hand
needed a little push but now rotating with ease both ways
OK... The belt.. look at the edges where it is snapped.. describe it to me
one end curled and frayed the other straight and frayed
OK.. Diagnosis.. All areas check out as Good.. The bearing at the rear could do with changing whist you are changing the belt, but obviously the belt needs changing.
What happens is that when the drum has a heavier weight in it than is normal for the appliance, the drum can not turn amd therefore the motor turns within the belt , thereby heating it and stretching it until it snaps.. hence the curling
George , that,s great , thank you very much .is this something we can fix ourselves or do we need an engineer ?
I suggest that you get an engineer for the rest of it... I could talk you through it if you had the right tools, but, I can guarantee you do not have the belt stretcher to do the job
I can suggest an engineer for you if you can give a postcode
