Hello, my name is***** is the model of the appliance? Was it a two wire or a three wire element that you changed?Kindly be patient whilst awaiting any responses from me as I'm not constantly available.
it was an indesit model 29229 spec fdu201x it was a two wire
What was the reason that you changed the element in the first instance?
it was burnt out and did not work
Did you check the element you took off the cooker?
it was in two pieces
OK.. From what area of the appliance did the "bang" originate, front or back?
from the element
From the new element that you had just bought?
did you put the back on the cooker before you tried it?
fitted the element then switched on the cooker loud bang
OK... Then in this instance you will find most probably that either you were supplied with a short circuit (faulty) element (this you can test with a multi meter or insulation tester).. or, one of the cables has been nicked and the bare wire was touching earth
Is the cooker now totally dead?
What is working?
the hob and the other grill are still working
Is the clock working?
it stopped working then I reset it
and is it switching to manual?
what do you mean
You have an Auto and a Manual setting on the clock
yes there is
Can you set it to manual?
how do you do that
Normally press the manual button until the clock no longer has the A displayed
where is the manual button
Do you not have a manual for the appliance.. They are in different places on each model
don't think there is a manual button
what buttons are on the clock?
3 or 5
ok... describe the button images to me
first one is a bell secondis a pot third is a pot with a line down it fourth is like a hand that's the auto fifth is a minus and sixth is a plus
Press the fourth button
im pressing it
Has the clock gone from Auto to Manual?
I think that's it working now
Is the oven now working?
element glowing red and fan now on
The fault was probably that a wire touched earth..The reason the oven would not swork is that the clock will not allow the main oven to work if it is set to Auto.. The clock has to be set to Manual.Would you like a manual for the cooker?
I think I have one somewhere
so to get it back on to manual you just have to keep your finger on auto
When the cooker loses power, you have to press button number four on your clock otherwise your oven will not work
thank you very much
You are very welcome
will get back to my painting now
