George-Allsorts :

Hello, my name is***** you check the back wall inside the freezer to see if there is evidence of any ice

Kindly be patient whilst awaiting any responses from me as I'm not constantly available.

Customer:

no there is no ice on the freezer

George-Allsorts :

Is there a fan in the freezer on this model? If so, is it rotating?

Customer:

cann't see one but feels as if there is as cold air is blowing through vents

George-Allsorts :

Ok, so there is a fan and it is rotating...

Is the food in the freezer soft?

Customer:

not soft but just about frozen

George-Allsorts :

IWhat setting do you have the thermostat on?

Customer:

as high as it will go which is number 7

George-Allsorts :

Can you go to the rear of the appliance and check the temperature of the compressor by placing your hand on it... Cool/Warm/Hot

Customer:

not sure if this is compressor but at the back at the bottom of freezer is a lge round thing which is hot

George-Allsorts :

Yes, that is the compressor... and thank you for checking.

When did you aquire the appliance?

Customer:

bought it second hand just last wk , lady said it was working fine and like a fool I believed her .

George-Allsorts :

Was it from a shop?

Customer:

no, a private sale

George-Allsorts :

Unfortunately, the appliance is short on gas.. Now, this could have already been the case when you bought it, or, it could have happened in transit.

Customer:

will it b expensive to sort out do u think

George-Allsorts :

These units are filled with R600a refrigerant.. The cost of replacing the refrigerant is not normally expensive, but, you need to find the source of the leak, otherwise you will fill it and it will leak out again. Normal cost is around £50 per unit, but that differs throughout the country

Customer:

op thank you very much for all your help.

George-Allsorts :

You're very welcome
