Hello My name is Ian ~ I am not on the site constantly so please be patient whilst waiting for responses to you queries - right can you confirm that your model is designed for use on 220-240 volts AC?

If it were me I would cut off the American plug and fit it with a standard UK 13 amp plug. The colour coding for American plugs is -
Live = Black
Neutral = White
Earth = Green
I would do it this way as most US to UK adapters have a maximum current rating of 10amps only.
