With things like this its always worth going back to basics.
When the induction hob was purchased was this ever tested, or is this the first time its been taken out of the box, as it could suggest it was 'dead on arrival' and may have a lose connection inside?
The fact the fan has started (all be it briefly) confirms power is getting to the appliance, are you confident the polarity is correct \ the unit has been wired as per installation instructions, including the earthing requirements?
The next thing to consider are there any lights\controls illuminated when you turn on the appliance at the wall and the fan starts running, and after the fan stops are there any lights showing?
Once I hear back from you I can better assist you as to what your options are to faulty find, and detect the fault\arrange a repair.
This sounds like a hardware component failure, I would suggest you arrange for someone to come and look at this under the warranty. though you may have purchased it a year ago, I would just advise them of the install date, they are used to this as builders buy appliances a year before home owners move in.
