We have a older Miele refridgerator -- no integral freezer.

Customer Question

We have a older Miele refridgerator -- no integral freezer. Model K 854 i-2. Behind the salad drawers low down at the back, above the drain hole, the rear panel keeps forming quite thick ice on its surface (within 2-3 weeks after defrosting) which means the salad drawer won't push in fully and then the door won't close. When we defrost it the water runs away down the drain hole, so it isn't blocked up. What's the problem? Is there an easy solution.

Does it switch on and off as normal or is it running all the time?

It is so quiet that it is hard to tell -- and being part of a fitted kitchen, it has a panel on the front door which makes it even quieter. After de-frosting it, we have just put the food back and we are running it to get the temperature back down to 4 degrees C (is that too cold?). When it is running normally, we will check.

OK - 4C is fine. Come back to me with your results

We decided to get the Miele engineer -- the entire interior behind the panels was completely frozen up and all three thermostats had failed. It took him half an hour to defrost it with sprays, before he could even begin the work.
