Hi, yes you can use a common household oil such as 3 in 1, it comes in a small container with a tube spout so you can get it just where you need it. Also it has no harmful fumes so its perfect for this application;-)

Just use it sparingly on the guides in the tracks and that will prevent any further freezing there;-)
