We have a Gorenje fridge/freezer. We turned this off before

Resolved Question:

We have a Gorenje fridge/freezer. We turned this off before going on holiday and back on when we came back. There is a problem with the temperature. The temperature in the fridge shows 9 degrees and when you try to lower it it just reverts back to 9 degrees. It is not getting cold, and there is a sound of liquid moving about in the appliance that is not usually there. We came down in the morning and turned it off and on again, but when we came in later, neither the fridge or freezer was cold - although the freezer does feel cool, the food had defrosted. Will a technician be able to fix this?

Hi

Can you post the model number of the appliance please.

Thanks

Thanks Daniel, can provide that information. A bit confused though, the website recommended someone called Rob and we proceeded based on his reviews - please can I ask why someone else has been assigned to us?
Expert:  Daniel replied 3 months ago.

Not sure why it recommended Rob as he's not online so he wouldn't have been able to answer anyway. But im here and can carry on with you if you like.

OK, thanks. The model number is *****
Expert:  Daniel replied 3 months ago.

Thanks for that.

Are you able to access the back of the appliance?

If so then look at the back at the bottom and there you will see the compressor (black pot)

Feel this and see if it hot to touch and let me know.

The black pot at the bottom with a sticker on it saying 'suction connector' and a bar-code IS hot to touch. not scalding but would be painful if left hand on there.
Is this because we defrosted the freezer a week ago?

Ok not good news im afraid.

This is a system fault here. Its either a poor pumping compressor, Short of gas or a blockage in there.

Now this can be fixed but you need to get a fridge engineer in as they will need to break into the system and check the gas from there. If its a blockage or short of gas then they can regass it from there and sort it.

But if its the compressor then this will need to be replaced in there and that will sort it.

Ive seen it a few times on these were its turned off and then when its plugged back in the system blocks up as it can pump a bit of oil in there and this is what blocks it.

So it can be repaired but its not a diy fix im afraid, If you need anymore info just get back to me.
