Hi James

Your problem lies with the flame sensing device . Effectively a thermocouple linked to the gas valve . You will need to get a gas engineer out to replace the part.

Best wishes Alex

will a gas engineer have the part for this hob or will I have to purchase it separately from the manufacturer ?

Best to get the model number and ring the manufacturer for the part otherwise the gas engineer will need 2 visits.

Hope this helps
