I have just returned from overseas found my 1997 Audi A4 1.6

Customer Question

I have just returned from overseas found my 1997 Audi A4 1.6 in a field, where it has been at rest for 18 months! It fired up after a new battery and level checks, but the engine temp very quickly rose until the high temp light came on the dash. All coolant hoses being cold, I suspected a stuck thermostat. New thermostat in place - the bottom hose stays cool but the top hose warmed up and the top third of the radiator.
Suspecting 1) The water pump has failed or 2) the temp sensor is faulty.
Any wisdom much appreciated.

Hi .I will help you with the cooling problem with your Audi .

Now the first you did was good, and now the thermostats is opening and letting the hot water move to the top of the radiator ,but with the bottom half of the radiator being
cold this indicates no circulation due to a blocked radiator,or waterpump

Remove the radiator and have it professionally cleaned out, chemical flushing of radiators don't clear blocked radiators .

Have a electronic temp gauge sensor to check the coolant at the radiator to get a true reading .

Need further assistance then please get back to me.
