My indicators have suddenly failed. The hazard warning lights

Customer Question

My indicators have suddenly failed. The hazard warning lights also do not work. All other
functions controlled by the left hand stalk are OK. Fuses seem to be OK. R H stalk OK.
Is there a relay in the circuit or is the stalk broken?

Hi..

Hopefully i can help..

Doubt the stalk itself would be the issue as that doesnt control the hazards..the hazard switch i recall controls or combined flasher/hazard unit,it can be quite common for those to cause issues like this - as it contains the relay that causes the hazard lamps and indicators to flash..so ideally it would be worth having your hazard switch unit replaced and see if that solves the issue..I do hope this helps

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Thanks. I would normally refer to my mechanic who has serviced this car for the past 6 years but he is on holiday! I have no service manual. Where is the unit and how can I get at it ? David

Expert:  Robert replied 2 years ago.

Hi..there

The unit is part of the hazard switch..the red triangle..you need to carefully pop the surrounding trim strip off around the switch with a fine blade screwdriver..and then once off it should reveal the switch itself which is held with spring clips at either side to release to withdraw the switch out..unplug old switch..plug in the replacement..test the switch and indicators work..if soo then refit everything back in reversal of removal..I do hope this helps further

Thanks again. It is now Saturday pm and I shall not be able to get a new

switch until Monday - it is also raining and I have no garage to work in. Your advice to date has been A1 but may I wait until I have found and refitted a new unit to give my final verdict on your service ? David

Hi..there..not problem glad to help..you can find switches over the internet or breakers yard might be the cheaper option as oppossed to direct from the dealer...but yep you can wait till then once the switch is fitted before rating..but you you can still rate once and ask further questions there after without any further cost..either way..
