my 2001 audi allroad blew a pipe andlost all the transmission

Resolved Question:

my 2001 audi allroad blew a pipe andlost all the transmission fluid; pipe is now mended and5litres of fluid in it and it selects reverse and moves ok but lights on dash to tell you what gear is selected all lit up, and when I select drive it seems to be straining but doesn't actually move much , any ideas ?

I'd say that this is still low on fluid? as the nominal capacity of the transmisson is about 6.4 ltrs

the fluid shouldjust run out of the fill hole when the oil is between 30 & 50 degrees

there's a excellent how to here on replacing the oil
