Hi , I'm James DVM MRCVS and would like to help you with your problem
Sorry to hear about you bird .

By what you are describing this could be one of several things
1. Wound (self inflicted or not)
2. bacterial infection
3. fungal infection

What I would suggest in the meantime is to bath the area in very diluted salt water in order to ward off any further infection . This sadly will need to be examined by a vet to perhaps even sampled to see what it is so the right type of medication can be tailored for treatment .

I hope this helps .

Let me know if you need any further help.

all the best .

James
