Hello

most likely cause is carbon build up and cleaning out the throttel body is a good idea as these get clogged up with carbon and the part can be washed through with brake cleaner and wiped out with a lint free rag helps free things off.

however if its been like for some time it possible that the throttle body motor is burnt out

in which case it will need replacing at about £200 for the part and an hours labour
