bmw e46 expansion tank exploded, the mechanic replaced the

Resolved Question:

bmw e46 expansion tank exploded, the mechanic replaced the water pump thermostat and expansion tank, however this did not stop the losing of coolant.
The mechanic had said without checking, it's the head gasket leaking, no point of repairing you rather sell it.

Hi..there..

Depends on the age of the car and the rest of its condition wise, and whether you feel its worth spending money on it to get it repaired only you would be able to make that final call.bearing in mind i cant see the car or know is history etc.being an e46 its pretty old car now so that wont be in its favour..if its just standard e46 unlike some of the higher end e46's - M series as such..then id say in personal opinion it wouldnt be worth spending any money on to be honest...trying to sell it on? again you might be hard pushed to find anyone willing to take that problem on..the hard fact is you could be looking at scrap value or sell as spares or repair...

im not sure why your mechanic replaced all those parts without doing any tests.in regards ***** ***** Leak Test kit on the coolant system to test for exhaust gas build up in the system which essentially is whats no doubt happening here - that in turn if done at the very beginning might of saved the cost getting new parts thrown at it for nothing.. I do hope this helps...
