I have a 2007 BMW 320i automatic with only 45000 genuine miles

Resolved Question:

I have a 2007 BMW 320i automatic with only 45000 genuine miles on the clock. The guide for the timing chain broke resulting in the replacement of guide, timing chain and 2 damaged valves. I am now told that the oil pressure is low probably as a result of the debris from the broken guide giong into the sump and that this will need to be removed (a major job I am led to believe), cleaned, etc to ensure the engine runs smoothly and will not give problems further down the line. Is this normal and/or likely to be the case? Would appreciate you comment before I commit to the added expenditure.
Thanks,
John

hi,

Please do not forget to click on a positive rating as this is the only way I receive credit for my time and answer.

yes this is likely to be the case given the previous issue that you had.

once the debris is fully cleaned then oil pressure should be back to normal.
