My BMW 325i year 2007 Subject final drive unit: Can the pinion

Customer Question

My BMW 325i year 2007 Subject final drive unit:
Can the pinion input shaft OIL SEAL be replaced without the having to remove the final drive unit.
Another issue: The ABS light is on all the time would this be a bad connection some where or some thing more serious.
The car has completed just 23500 miles and I purchased the car one week ago.
I'm engineer by trade so mechanical work holds no fear for me.
Regards
Peter.

Hello
I will provide an honest answer. I trust this will be appreciated. Please remember that a low rating PUNISHES me for being honest and that I receive nothing for my time until a positive rating is clicked.
You will need to remove the final drive to replace the seal.
The abs light COULD be a bad connection but 99.9% it is something more serious such as a failed sensor or control module
Please let me know if you have further questions. Please do not forget to click a positive rating as this is the only way I receive credit for my answer, thank you. Best wishes with your vehicle.

Steve. Are you certain final drive needs removing to change seal. I have it on my car ramp now and there seems to be plenty of room to get at and change seal once propeller is removed.
