2008 118d - dts warning light appeared will not go out...losing

2008 118d - dts warning light appeared will not go out...losing power and a rattling noise from rear nearside wheel but only only in 2nd gear. Any ideas

yes took to local garage he seemed to think it was the particuate filter system but that isnt the warning light showing

ive also had all tyres checked at national tyres- no puncture all in good nick apparently

The yellow traction control light comes up on the dash. It usually blinks 3 times at approx. 1 second intervals and, when this is happening, the car loses power for several seconds. I don't get any other warning lights (check engine etc.). This happens when I wouldn't usually expect traction control to be needed - even when driving cautiously in a straight line. It seems like TC is kicking in when it shouldn't need to. If I turn TC off by holding in the DTC button, the car drives normally. If I turn it back on, the problem comes back.
