Expert:  Steve replied 1 year ago.

no problem

Expert:  Steve replied 1 year ago.

this is indeed the self leveling system warning light. the system is inactive .

Expert:  Steve replied 1 year ago.

this could be caused by a few things, the most likely being a rupture to the air spring on the one side. other possible issues could be with the air distribution system of possibly a level sensor (although unlikely as this vehicle should only have as ingle sensor for the rear end)

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
what should he do? Is it safe to drive?
Expert:  Steve replied 1 year ago.

it terms of being safe to drive, it isn't really. if he needs to limp it a few miles home or a few miles to a garage, that is probably doable if he takes care to drive slow and avoid bumps. If he needs to drive a long distance or wants to continue using the car normally for many weeks, that would not be advisable.

Expert:  Steve replied 1 year ago.

the vehicle will rquire professional repair (likely air spring replacement). if he can limp it to a close BMW garage I would do that. otherwise I would have it towed
