I have recently bought a 2002 BMW 320d automatic with 111000

Customer Question

Hi, I have recently bought a 2002 BMW 320d automatic with 111000 on the clock. It seems to run fine. However I'm confused by my MPG readings compared to the mileage range on the trip computer. The mpg often shows over 60 when on a motorway etc, but the miles on the range just seem to plummet! The range can drop over 150 miles, when my journey may be only around 70 miles.
I drive it quite conservatively to maximise the fuel efficiency.
I have just had the car serviced also, and this had made no difference at all.
How can I correct this?

what is the actual mg you get when calculate them manually?

I'm not sure to be honest. I was resetting the mpg on the trip computer each time a started the car. I've stopped doing that now, and thinking of just resetting each time I fill up. Don't know if that will make any difference
