My daughter bought a V.W. last September. She went for MOT

Customer Question

my daughter bought a V.W. last September. She went for MOT which failed on emissions. The oil level and water levels are normal, but the test mechanic suspected a significant problem with the engine. What do you think is wrong? The mileage is currently 87,000miles. she has only driven 3000 miles so far.

Are there any warning lights coming on at all?

There was smoke emitting when the test was carried out. The vehicle has been running okay. No warning lights.

Ok the vehicle appears to have the normal power?

Hello.

Can you tell me if the reason for failure was due to the engine pushing out smoke or if it was due to actual emission content. ie high CO or HC or Lambda for petrol engine or smoke density for a diesel engine.

Mark.
