I have lost one of the ignition keys and fob from my Nissan

Resolved Question:

I have lost one of the ignition keys and fob from my Nissan Note 2010. I have bought another fob and have had a key cut. The new key turns on the ignition, but does not start the car. It will not, of course, remotely operate the doors.
Nissan want to charge a fortune for a new key.
Any ideas?

Hi.
the Nissan has an immoblizer system that shuts down the engine
you will need to make sure the key you have purchased has chip inside then with this key have the immobiliser control module removed send this with the key to have it programmed

the good news is yes you can get your immobiliser recoded there are many companies that can do this .

here are some links for you to follow and then contact.

this method of repair should cost less than £200 .

All you need to do is tell the dealer you will supply the required parts and contract them to fit it no more than an hours labour.

If you need any more help on this then please feel free.
