In the engine compartment,is the drive belt still in place?

No the drive belt is off - is this a problem with tensioner do you think as well as a new belt. Would it be costly to fix. Stay in Glasgow but stuck in Aberdeen (140 miles away).

Yes the issue that you are having is that the drive belt came off,the most common reason for this is that the belt tensioner or the idler pulley has failed and caused the belt to come off.This is not that expensive of a repair and would cost about 1.5-2 hours of labor.The tensioner or idler pulley and belt would need to be replaced.
