hi my p38 wont start easy from cold have done heater plugs

hi my p38 wont start easy from cold have done heater plugs but when i try to start it it flatens batt before fireing batt was changed one year ago when it does start its run on about 4 pots & then runs ok

From what you are describing the issue that you are having is consistent with a failing crankshaft position sensor,this is common to cause this issue. The sensor will need to be ohm tested and likely replaced.

have had range rover plug in and it has not come up with any faults could it still be crankshaft sencor

Yes the crank sensor normally will not set a code.

ok can you tell me were I find it and can I just replace it or will it have to be set up

The crank sensor is down near the crankshaft pulley, the system will have to be reset using a diagnostic tool after the repair is made.
