Resolved Question:

I have a vectra c 2007 model and my wipers are playing up when ever I pull the wiper stalk towards me to wash and wipe the front window the wipers don't stop they go on and on and I have to turn ignition off and back on again to park them at the bottom but they work fine on intermittent and fast speeds with no problem only if I use the wash and wipe I get issues my diagnostic check came with park switch circuit malfunction but to me I think the park switch is working as it's fine in the other modes??? Mark :

Hello, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I will try help you with this.

Mark :

Which relay did you try?

Customer: Hi I've tried the relay for the front wipers and they stop when I unplug and it put in a new one and still the same
Mark :

There are two relays for the front wipers.

Mark :

Was the one you pulled in the middle of the box or to one side of the box?

Customer: Hi mate it was the middle brown relay I swopped it for the other brown relay to the right
Mark :

There are two relays for this.

Mark :

Relay 10 as well as relay 7

Customer: Oh ok what is the other relay is for?
Mark :

Relay box

Mark :

Did you see the diagram?

Customer: Yea just in the cold outside at my car now
Customer: I don't have relay 10 on my 1.8 think maybe that's a 1.6 relays?
Mark :

How long have you had the car?

Customer: Since last year around September
Mark :

When did this problem start

Customer: Yesterday some time
Customer: Only effects when I squirt water other wise the wipers are fine and work normal but as soon as I pull stalk to spray water they will not stop wiping
Mark :

I would try a relay in space 10. If that doesn't work then I think the fault is in the control unit.

Customer: Yea I'm checking the earths with a friend today on the wiper and washer bottle incase it's a bad earth just in case
Mark :

I don't think it is an earth problem.

Mark :

The wiper motor works.

Mark :

The washers work.

Mark :

Wipers

Mark :

Click on link for wiring diagram

Mark :

Left circuit is for washers

Mark :

Middle is for wipers

Mark :

Right is for rear wiper.

Mark :

Wipers have two relays

Mark :

You don't

Mark :

You need to get a second relay

Customer: If it's worked all this time why would it go faulty now and the relay in 10 looks to be a lot smaller then the rest but I'll check this morning as it's not freezing like last night
Mark :

If it has worked all this time then either the motor or the control unit has developed a fault. As the motor works normally when you don't use the washers that leaves the control unit as faulty. The diagram shows me two relays which is why I suggest you try a relay first.

Mark :

If that doesn't help then you need the control unit.

Customer: Is that the cim unit as vauxhall want £400 for one of them but there is a few on eBay
Mark :

Not the CIM

Mark :

The CIM appears to be working ok.

Customer: Oh ok what's the control unit
Mark :

Under the bonnet

Customer: Oh ok I'll see what I can find out today when I get up
Mark :

Ok

Customer: Hi all the relays check out ok
Customer:

we checked relays and fuses by substitution striped and cleaned the wiper park switch and checked all earths with a mulitmeter

Mark :

And is it any better?

Customer:

nope still the same

Mark :

Did you get a relay for position 10

Customer:

yea my misake i have a 10 but not a 9

Customer:

i checked a haynes and all the relays and fuses a present and work fine

Mark :

So you probably need a new module.

Customer:

which module the cim?

Mark :

No.

Mark :

The one under the bonnet

Mark :

Where the relays fit.

Customer:

oh

Mark :

You need a tech 2 scan tool when replacing this module.

Mark :

Module

Mark :

Did you get the diagram?

Customer:

yea i have got it thanks

Mark :

Is there any more I can help you with?

Customer:

no that should be ok now il see what more i can find out thanks

Mark :

No problem.

Mark :

Please remember to rate my assistance.

Mark :

Mark :
