I am considering relacing my 2009/20000 miles E350 diesel, reading about problems with Diesel particulat filters should I select petrol?
Hopefully i can help..
It really all boils down to how much mileage you actually do really..Often Diesels being more economical fuel usage wise would be more suited to say somebody who does alot of motorway driving or every day driving conditions as this is what the dpf relys on to ensure it can go through its normal self regeneration process - thats why alot of low mile usage or seldom used diesels tend to have problems arise with the filters as the filter/cars self regenration process doesnt generally get enough time to reach its full operating temperature to burn the soot captured in the filter.unless you where to every so often take the car on good long motorway run to keep the soot level down .If you do alot of low mileage urban driving say - then a petrol engine would be more suited in most cases.. I do hope this helps
