Resolved Question:

Hi, looking at buying a 2008 Hyundai I30 1.6CRDI Premium, had a listen to the engine seems to be a light whistle noise on acceleration coming from it. (Car has 124000 miles on the clock and regularly serviced). Any idea what it may be and any other problems to look out for?

Hi..

Hopefully i can help..

Most likely the Turbo as per the whistle under load/throttle..if its a very light noise and only happens as and when you put the foot down then thats on these engine is normal especially so looking at that mileage..i wouldnt say it would be something to be totally concerned about givin the fact by your description being serviced regularly which by the sounds of means the cars been well looked after...having said that if this is fairly loud under load/slight lag in boost/smoke from the tail pipe or can be heard to at idle then you will have a problem with that..obviously being a car for sale you can really take parts of the engine aprt to fully check vane shaft play in the turbo to see what excess movment it has..However if the oil level is correct/the correct oil used..and the car pulls well and that noise isnt to obvious then it sounds normal

as far as you description goes..I do hope this helps
