Hi it's a 1.4 and its a petrol
Expert:  Rob replied 2 years ago.
Hi Natalie.
thanks for the info .
I will do some research on this as I know the 1.4 and 1.2 up to 2007 had significant problems with their camshafts .
If I can check their part numbers at work tomorrow and they are the same then we are in business .
same time tomorrow I will let you know.
regards rob
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Ok thank you. Vauxhall have said they won't cover the price because of the age.
Expert:  Rob replied 2 years ago.
Hi.
out of warranty .
If it can be shown to be a common problem then it is possible to get some recompense .

Expert:  Rob replied 2 years ago.
Hi Natalie.
the part numbers are different on the camshaft so we cannot go down that route .
Have you contacted Vauxhall uk ?
Is the service schedule up to date?
regards rob
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

yeah i have contacted vauxhall and they have said its an unusual problem but because of the age they wont pay towards the work. Yes it has a full service on it. Was last serviced in September

Expert:  Rob replied 2 years ago.
Hi Natalie.
The next step would be to approach trading standards out of warranty or not this should not happen to a vehicle of that age or mileage and would fall under the grounds of not fit for purpose.
I have known many occasions where the dealer will refuse once the warranty has expired but they do not like bad press and hopefully by the time we have finished they will at least make a contribution.

forgot to ask is the vehicle under finance?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Thank you rob. All Vauxhall have said if there was a fault with engine it would have shown up on service. Am currently getting all the reports from garage as all my prove.
Expert:  Rob replied 2 years ago.
Hi Natalie.
I would like to help you on this and would be keen to know the garages opinion .
regards rob
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I'm getting all the reports from garage tomorrow. It's not at the garage I brought it from as I don't think car would have made it there. I haven't spoken to the garage I brought it from as I'm not sure what they can say. Vauxhall customer services have said no to contributing to price. I'm taking it fewer now though. For them to say it's an unusual problem then to say no because of age is strange
Expert:  Rob replied 2 years ago.
Hi Natalie .
If you can prove that the camshaft has suffered from a defect in material or construction then you've got them .
regards rob
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
It's just proving it. I don't think it would have eroded over night. If there was a way of proving it I be sorted. Even garage have said that.

It could be worth sending the cam shaft too these people to determine
what caused the failure.
Dependant on the cost.
