The SERV light normally that comes on or accompanies other warning lights either Oil / handbrake / airbag / engine / charging system.id probably check as routine check all the fluids just in case,by checking brake fluid/oil etc..but its doesnt essentailly mean the cars due for a service the SERV light normally covers a problem with a module within the vehicle...ideally scanning for fault codes would be essential to see what type of fault you maybe dealing with that way you'll be in a better position over costs etc..I do hope this helps..if you require to ask anything further then please do before you rate
Thank you for your assistance but I guess the only answer is to have a diagnostic check on it because there are no other warning signs that accompany it.
Ok just one thing more please, how often should a cam belt be changed? Could that be the problem?
What engine size / fuel type do you have exactly?
No..the timing belt wouldnt cause the SERV light flash..
engine size 1.2/ petrol
Normally every or nearing 72,000miles / 60 months which ever comes round first..along with the timing belt its should also have the water pump/tensioner replaced...
