Hi Ross
Not to bad just notice the problem more in these gears.

Ok, if there is no engine management light I suspect it could be the Mass air flow sensor (MAF) This often causes flat spots or a general feeling of being flat.I Always strongly advise a fault code scan is done first if not already done as often it will help pinpoint the problem with reduce the risk of replacing unnecessary parts but be aware the MAF Sensor will not always show a fault, these need to be tested using live data or a scope. If the Maf is tested OK or replaced and the fault continues the turbocharger would be the next suspect. You say you checked the waste gate actuator, these use variable geometry turbos so the actuator actually works a set of veins to effectively adjust the size of the turbocharger to reduce lag and achieve higher pressures at high speed, the actuator needs to snap back and move smoothly, even a little bit of sticking in a certain position can cause this to happen so ensure it is absolutely free and snaps fully back to the resting position with no roughness.A turbocharger fault will eventually cause an engine management light to come on and usually quite quickly so i suspect the Maf is the likely cause.
