Need the actual code .As this could be anything from a vacuum leak causing the Sensor to malfunction ,wiring issue connection or even a malfunctioning ECM. Greg

Hi .
Okay going from the issue you have its not the lambda sensor that is the problem but the wiring or connections if this is okay then you may have a problem with the ECM .may need replacing or just a reflash (depending on the code).
I would bite the bullet and have VW or a good VW repair shop hook up a dealer level scan tool and check this out for you , if you was at a dealer then i suggest you check out another.
Depending on the code this could be a problem with the running of the engine ,misfiring engine bad plugs ,vacuum leak at the manifold , exhaust leak before the lambda sensor.
