Ok.. could be TPS related Throttle positon sensor which essentially is the throttle body itself part of inlet manifold comes as one unit not cheap...unless you can find one at a breakers.. having said that the most common issue on the DTI's is build up of carbon/soot..this in particular the egr's and throttle /swirl flaps get all gummed up badly on these could be sticking sometimes..I cant tell you how many ive done and 99% of the time faults are either sticking EGR valves / stuck swirl flaps / stuck Variable vanes on turbo - leaking vac hose must be checked using a mityvac to see if the circuit holds vacuum or not..leak off lines at injectors..the only major fault these tend to have is EDC faults..which essentially is the main injection pump..But id say at least get have the EGR checked out and or cleaned......There was also bulletin on this similar fault.below Vectra-C 2002...2004,Signum 2003...2004,Frontera 2002...2003Y20DTH| Y22DTR,Y20DTH| Y22DTR,Y20DTHComplaint:Bad throttle response, bad performance and sometimes about black smoke. After engine shut down and next ignition cycle the problem is gone. In most of the cases DTC: P0638 (5B) was set, sometimes together with P0234 (5B).Cause:Leakage and or malfunction within the vacuum circuit detected. Most likely a cracked T-connector or a cracked vacuum hose. In some cases a blocked filter element (90541133/ 08 51 080) was found. If this happens the vacuum line can not properly be ventilated and therefore will not actuate the throttle flap in a proper way (throttle flap get´s stuck in nearly closed position).Production:N/A, engine already out of production.Remedy:In case of customer complaint please check complete vacuum system for possible leakages/cracks. Replace solenoid filter element partnumber 90541133
