I have 2006 alfa brera

Car is in great condition for age, and has not been in any bumps. And cannot remember having encountered any decent pot-holes either. I now dont have great confidence in the garage carrying out MOT because I bought new front brake pads and asked for them to be fitted, and was advised they couldn't do this because of fused pin in front brakes. was told would need new fixing kit, but when my husband phoned up and told them to leave it as he would sort in ten mins with heat and rubber mallet - they magically managed to fix the issue....
Car passed on MOT for everything except this warning light - and if I get them to replace - my total bill will be approx £900!!

is there a potential easy / cheaper fix? I have been researching alfa forums etc......
Or is it possible that I do need new ecu, and they aren't just being lazy!

Hello its the 1st code thats making them say you need a new ECU , and this is quite possible as Alfa airbag ECU's do have a habit of becoming faultyhowever there's a cheaper option to a new ECU unit1st thing to try is the specialist ECU repair firmshttp://www.the-ecu-doctor.co.uk/ http://www.bba-reman.com/uk/this is preferred as you won't lose any coding information from your car alternatively source a good used unit from a specialist Alfa breakers yard typically they want about £60 and it must be of the same era/part numberhttp://www.alfaspareparts.com/orhttp://www.alfa-spares.co.uk/this will then need coding for your car and you need to ensure that whichever garage you choose has the correct Alfa / Fiat diagnostic tool
