Resolved Question:

I have a 2011 Hyundai ix35 with a 1.7 crdi engine. When it sits between 1000-2000 RPM the engine cuts in and out like fuel starvation, but is fine everywhere else. I have had the filters replaced and the system cleaned and run on B.P fuel, but with no improvement. Could this be a throttle position sencer problem?, the car has had a scan but no fault codes are found, and the problem happens regardless of wether temp.

1st it’s worth considering fitting a new fuel filter as if only slightly blocked this can lower fuel supply pressure and choke the main pump, the pump will be more sensitive to this when its cold as diesel thickens considerably with low temperatures.

If this is OK then also check the connections to the EGR valve, if either the vacuum pipe of electrical connection are damaged / corroded then the EGR can be on all time which certainly will hurt performance. Its also possible that its a fault with the EGR valve so its worth removing the valve and cleaning it out with brake cleaner, if it looks particularly clogged then replace it.
