Dr .Saeed ahmed :

Hello, Thank you for your question. I will try my best to help you with your questions. I need to ask few questions before first.

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

Do you have fever ? swelling or redness over the implanted site ?

Customer: No
Customer: No i dont. The wound is healing well
Customer: Still waiting
Dr .Saeed ahmed :

Hello

Customer: Hello, i am still waiting for a response to my question.
Dr .Saeed ahmed :

ECG was done after these symptoms have started ?

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

Shortness of breath after mild activity ?

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

Of symptoms get worse after slight activity ?

Customer: No. A pacemaker check was done and everything is in place. I just wanted an opinion from a cardiologist
Customer: Symptoms get worse after activity
Dr .Saeed ahmed :

If ECG was done and it is ok then pacemaker is fine. One thing that needs attention is that they have to do it with a magnet on the pacemaker

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

Did they checked ECG with magnet ?

Customer: They checked it with a magnet and everything was okay. But the throbbing pain in the heart is what worries me
Dr .Saeed ahmed :

What symptoms or which symptoms get worse after exercise ? palpitations ? or shortness of breath ?

Customer: Palpitations
Dr .Saeed ahmed :

This seems like a pacemaker syndrome

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

or pacemaker tachycardia.

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

It is very common after new pacemaker.

Customer: What does this mean?
Dr .Saeed ahmed :

It can be adjusted easily by placing a machine over the pacemaker and adjusting the rate and cycle length of the pacemaker.

Customer: The cardiac physiologist checked the pacemaker and said the pacemaker is alright but suggested I needed to see a cardiologist for the pain in the heart
Dr .Saeed ahmed :

Pain is very normal after implantation and stays for around 4-6 weeks,

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

because we have to pierce the blood vessels

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

and there are nerves along these

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

which are damaged

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

also pacemaker pocket which we form below the skin

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

causes pressure on the surrounding

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

tissue and it takes time for the body to adjust to this.

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

If heart rate increases of you feel

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

symptoms of palpitations after exercise only then this is pacemaker tachycardia

Customer: The surrounding of the pacemaker itself is not particularly painful. It is the throbbing heart beat that is my concern.
Dr .Saeed ahmed :

which is caused due to problems with pacemaker not adjusted to hearts rate

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

I still think these are pacemaker tachy symptoms

Customer: Okay. Thank you. Do you suggest I see a cardiologist for this?
Dr .Saeed ahmed :

This can be easily adjusted.

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

Let me know if you have questions.

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

I can tell more details on PMT

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

if you need them

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

or a link to read to match your symptoms.

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

PMT is pacemaker tachy

Customer: Can I have the link please?
Dr .Saeed ahmed :

Ok, let me check

Dr .Saeed ahmed :

Please wait for few minutes, thanks.

Dr .Saeed ahmed :
